The city of Knoxville has various entertainment options for its residents. Some of the many natural attractions to visit are the parks. Parks are so versatile. You can take a walk, have a picnic, host an event, or just enjoy the view. There are multiple parks in Knox County that offer many other things to do inside of them.
Concord Park is a mega recreational area with activities on both land and water. Some of the activities on land include a par-3 golf course, asphalt skate park with 3 ramps, cove with sand volleyball, soccer fields, tennis courts, and an 8-mile natural trail. Since it is surrounded by the Fort Loudoun Lake, there are water activities such as fishing, swimming, and boating. If you are looking for an outdoor place to have fun, come out to Concord Park.
Lakeshore Park is the most popular location for walkers and runners. The park provides a spectacular view of Fort Loudoun Lake and the Smoky Mountains. Lakeshore Park also has 2 playgrounds, paved trails, 6 baseball/softball fields along with 3 soccer fields. The park offers a Farmer’s Market on Friday afternoons from 3 pm to 6 pm from mid-April to October.
West Hills / John Bynon Park
West Hill Park is a diverse park. In 2012, the city and Greater Knoxville Tennis Association opened up the new West Hills Tennis Center Clubhouse. The park also has other facilities like 11 tennis courts, picnic tables, 2 playgrounds, open space for events, 4 baseball/softball fields, 6 pickleball courts, football field, soccer field, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, and an outdoor basketball court.
Fort Dickerson Park
Fort Dickerson Park is perfect for history fanatics. Fort Dickerson is one of the best-preserved earthen forts from the Civil War era. From the park, you get breathtaking sites like the skyline of Downtown Knoxville and the high peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains. There are various activities for individuals to do such as walking or running the trails that are across of the Tennessee River, strolling through the forest canopy, and swimming and paddling.
