In December 2017 there was a federal tax cut and the impact of this is likely to help locally. The state of Tennessee’s unemployment levels in November 2017 was only 3.1%. That is 1 point below the national percentage and it is 2 points below what it was in November of 2016. For the last six years, the state’s unemployment rate has been lower than the nation's average.
