Brazilian Wax

What is a Brazilian Wax?

Brazilian waxing is the removal of hair from the belly button down. It is known as the “bare wax” and involves waxing on, around, and beyond the bikini area. Each individual has their own preference of how much hair to get waxed and how much to leave behind.

How to Prep for a Brazilian Wax

Brazilian waxing can be a daunting task, but after getting it done for the first time, it will become a lot more comfortable and normal. Here are some tips for attending your appointment:

Have the Right Hair Length: Your hair should be about a quarter of an inch long before you can wax it.

Pick the Right Date: For females, waxing around their menstrual cycle is not recommended because the skin will be 10 times more sensitive. The best time would be 1 week before your cycle, or 4 days after your cycle has ended.

Keep the Skin Clean: Before going into the appointment, make sure your skin is cleaned. Do not apply any sort of moisturizers, oils, or lotions.

Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol can tighten up pores, making the waxing process much more painful, so avoid these things before the appointment.

Ease the Pain: If you really cannot bare the pain, then it is okay to take medicine, like Ibuprofen or Advil to ease the pain.

Benefits of a Brazilian Wax

Some say Brazilian waxes are too painful and not worth it, while others say it is pain-free and totally worth it. Really, the experience depends on your hair type and tolerance level. Nonetheless, the benefits are undeniable.

Whenever you shave, the hair starts to grow back after a couple of days and can be very prickly. With waxing, hair takes about 2-8 weeks to grow back because it was removed from the root. Once it does grow back, the hair is much thinner and not as sharp.

Waxing appointments usually do not take long at all. They are typically rather quick, easy, and convenient.

Since waxing is less susceptible to ingrown hairs than shaving, the skin will be a lot smoother. It will also be softer because no stubble will be left behind.

Waxing is like a form of exfoliation for your skin because it helps to get rid dead skin cells. It can also brighten your skin, unlike shaving and hair removal creams, which can damage your skin and give it the appearance of being darker.

Some individuals prefer to be completely hair-free and waxing achieves that goal. You can wear undergarments and bathing suits without worrying about unwanted hair being visible.
